The three major sections of the heliosphere are the heliosheath, heliopause, and termination shock. Five spacecraft have sent back data about the heliosphere. Voyager 1 and 2 have returned data to 44 AU and 67 AU, respectively.
The official edge of our solar system is located about half the distance from the center of the Milky Way galaxy. It is in a smaller spiral arm, called the Orion Arm, between two larger arms of the galaxy. The edge of our solar system is largely dependent on exploration and research. It is important to note that our solar system is very large – the distances between the outer planets are approximately twice the distance between Earth and Pluto.
Voyager 2 has now left our solar system. It crossed the boundary that marks the end of the heliosphere and the beginning of interstellar space. The edge of our solar system lies 119 astronomical units away from the sun. This is approximately 93 million miles or 149.6 million kilometers. Therefore, there is a small hole between Earth and the outermost part of the solar system.

Scientists have discovered a new object in our solar system, called the Distant Dwarf. The discovery was first made in late 2016 but scientists had very little information about its physical structure. Recent observations using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array have revealed more details about DeeDee. The object may be as large as ten times the size of Earth and be around nine times more massive than Pluto.
